Great Tahoe Mountain Lodge - Clcik to ZoomGreat Lake Tahoe Mountain Lodge

The extensive renovation of this family vacation home has provided great flexibility through careful planning. When using just one floor level, it is a comfortable size for a couple. Using all three floors and the large game room over the semi-detached garage, allows ample space and sound privacy for all four generations of the family.  Originally it was a 3,200 sq. ft. house built in the 1970s it was cramped, but now, with 7 bedrooms, each with a bath, plus two half baths; 3 living rooms; a playroom for the young children; and the large game room especially for the teenagers; it encompasses almost 6,000 sq.ft. plus a large open roof deck, all overlooking Lake Tahoe and the High Sierra Nevada mountains.

 Lakeside or Mountain home

This 5,600 sq.ft. Lodge design provides a generous and impressive environment in which to entertain and house guests. With 4 guest suites plus the master suite, a spacious and lofty great room with game room and large gourmet kitchen open to it, and a dining room with spectacular lofty ceiling and tri-part view window, it will provide owners with all they could ask for in a Lodge home. Rustic stone work, exposed timbered truss work evident throughout and large featured round top windows virtually bring the outdoors right into this home. The rear side of the house spreads wide from the central, octagonal, 2 1/2 story great room which provides truly panoramic  views, while out the front, the angled plan of the house creates a welcoming courtyard as one approaches the main entry.

Rear Elevation of Mountain Vacation Home - Click to ZoomThis home has at its heart a 30 x 22' great room with two story ceiling height. The kitchen / dining area is open to the great room on one side and the full Master suite is off of it to the other side. There are fireplaces in the great room and the master suite. The great room opens onto a large covered back porch / outdoor living room through a 12' doorway. The porch is covered by the extended rear gable roof, shown in the sketch at left.  Big beautiful, peeled Lodgepole Pine logs are used as the structure in the rear porch, the front entry portico, and in the exposed truss work above the great room. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms for children and guests on the second floor. The home has a total of 4,200 sq.ft. of living space indoors and a 530 sq.ft. garage that is integral to the house, and is entered from the side.
This design can also be built at either 2,800 or 3,200 sq. ft. as shown on our Small Homes page.

Second Home in the Sierra Nevada at Truckee

Designed for a steep upslope site at about 6700 ft elevation, this California mountain home design captures the views of the High Sierra from several of its rooms and its expansive entertainment deck. Rugged climatic and environmental concerns are successfully met in this design.  Mountainside Lakeview Remodel at Lake Tahoe

Shown here is an architecturl model for the remodeling of a 30 year old Tahoe Home (see image below). We are using photos of the architectural model here because the property has over 50% slope & numerous trees, we are prevented from taking acceptable photos.  The new garage with guest suite above now has access from the main road below.  The new top floor with the large master suite with even greater Lake Tahoe and mountain views greatly improves livability.  The use of parchment colored stucco, framed with the cut stone and wood trim, gives a fresh look and a hint of the Arts & Crafts style architecture, to this updated home. King-post trusses are exposed at the gables and the main, Great Room now has a soaring height, so very enhanced by the beautiful lake and mountain views.
